Holocaust Survivor Services
Emergency Financial Assistance
Money has been allocated through the Jewish Claims Conference from legal settlements with the German and Swiss governments to assist low-income Holocaust survivors with one-time emergency purchases or bills such as dentures, hearing aids, rental assistance, utility bills, medical bills that are not paid for by insurance or any other one-time expense. To apply, survivors should contact JFCS at 226-7079 ext.12.
Reparations Assistance
Our Holocaust Survivor Program case manager keeps up to date on new programs and reparations available to Holocaust survivors. These have included BEG payments from the German government, Austrian and Hungarian pensions, Insurance claims, and others. Our staff is available to assist with the application process and with interpretation and translation of reparations documents as needed.
Café Europa
Café Europa meets monthly to offer Holocaust survivors with the opportunity to socialize with other survivors from similar backgrounds and experiences. Programs include lectures on special topics of interest such as new medical technologies, treatments and senior related resources, films, slide shows from recent excursions and musical events. Refreshments are provided along with social time and assistance with transportation, if needed.
