Dream of Independent Housing for Adults wiith Developmental Disabilities Within Reach
For over a decade, Jewish Family & Child Service and the families of the JFCS TASK Program have worked tirelessly to manifest their dream of having independent housing for Jewish adults with developmental disabilities. At long last, that dream appears to be within reach.
We have developed a collaborative plan with Cedar Sinai Park to build a 14-unit apartment complex on the CSP campus, and plan to apply for federal HUD 811 monies in Spring 2009 to help fund its construction. We have already created a strong and committed partnership for this project with local city, county, and state offices. And thanks to your generous support, we have successfully raised the $200,000 needed for the matching grant from the Kuni Family Foundation for the construction phase of the Kehillah Housing Project.
At JFCS, we must now turn our attention to raising funds for the comprehensive array of support services which will be needed by the Kehillah Housing residents, including ongoing case management, daily living skills training, recreational activities, and vocational & employment support .
