During the celebrations of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and more, we know that for many, the celebratory spirit can be hard to come by.

JFCS provides an antidote: We continue our more than 20-year tradition of brightening the season for families and individuals of all ages, including greater Portland’s Holocaust Survivors, experiencing hard times.

Our Thanksgiving Food Boxes and Family-to-Family program give hundreds of people who are struggling reasons to celebrate.

Thanksgiving Food Boxes

Our 21st Thanksgiving Food Box program was a huge success thanks to generous community partners, donors, volunteers and agency staff.

On Sunday, November 21st, in the MJCC gym, we packed 150 boxes of Thanksgiving meal fixings for about 600 individuals and then handed them off to drivers who delivered them throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties.

This year’s partners include five synagogues, four Jewish communal organizations, four grocery stores and four retail outlets. And 65 volunteers of all ages.

Thank you, everyone who participated, for being here for JFCS so we can be here for our community.

Family-to-Family

JFCS adds joy to holiday celebrations by providing gift cards to clients so they can meet their own needs, most often by purchasing household items, clothing, and toys for children. Cards were distributed the week of December 5, coinciding with the runup to Hanukkah (beginning December 18 this year) and this season’s many festivities.

VOLUNTEER

Thank you to the 65 volunteers who packed boxes – brimming with a turkey, potatoes, yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and more – and delivered the festive and filling holiday meals to those in need.

This holiday campaign is special, offering a wonderful way to give back to those in need in our community. Thank you for your time, for your help and for caring so much!

Thank you partners

Watch how our community came together last year to feed more than 600 people. With your help, we once again were able to lift up the members of our community who need extra warmth and support this holiday season.
