In her position at JFCS, Maria helps families and individuals who are experiencing financial hardship and other personal challenges to problem solve and identify relevant community resources. Maria coordinates and manages all emergency aid requests, as well as two longstanding Holiday Campaigns —
the Thanksgiving Food Box Drive and the Mitzvah Menorah Adopt-a-Family program.
Maria is a Qualified Mental Health Associate and holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Roger Williams University. Maria has spent 20 years as a social worker and case manager. Before joining Jewish Family & Child Service in 2007, she worked for a diverse range of organizations, including Hawaii’s Department of Human Services in both the Adult and Child Welfare Divisions, the Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as a Victim Witness Advocate, and at Catholic Charities as a Domestic Violence Outreach Counselor.
Maria’s two greatest passions are her family and making a difference in the lives of others through educating, advocating, and empowering.
