Lester Thompson

Interim Chief Financial Officer

Lester (he/him), Interim Chief Financial Officer, oversees accounting, financial reporting and compliance activities. He supports the Board of Directors and staff to provide financial information and financial oversight for the agency. He’s also responsible for financial controls and cash and treasury planning. 

Lester received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Louisiana State University. Prior to joining JFCS, Lester was the CFO of Impact NW and YWCA of Greater Portland after 20 years as a CPA with international accounting firms, primarily providing specialized services to nonprofit and health care-related organizations. In 2009, Lester was awarded Ernst & Young’s Elmer Whiting Inclusiveness Award for his work embedding and aligning the firm’s inclusive values into its business operations. 

Lester has served as a member of what had been the primarily volunteer-driven National Disaster Animal Response Team of the Humane Society of the United States, providing animal-related response in large-scale disasters and law-enforcement operations. He also served as a disaster planning instructor nationally, providing training to first responders and animal-related organizations.
