Mental Health Clinician
Specialties: grief and loss, trauma, and the challenges that come with life’s transitions – aging, parenting, anxiety, depression, caregiving, and relationship difficulties
Sydney Joseph (she/her), a clinical social worker, focuses her work on grief and loss, trauma, and the challenges that come with life’s transitions – aging, parenting, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Many years spent as a hospice bereavement specialist, as well as clinical work in Japan providing crisis support and grief counseling, shaped her commitment to supporting clients as they experience the various types of losses that may present themselves throughout one’s life.
Sydney also has a particular interest in caring for carers – supporting people in caregiving roles, whether that caregiving is professional or personal. Her sessions are strengths-based, warm, and trauma-informed. Sydney’s person-centered, non-judgmental approach draws on multiple modalities, including DBT, narrative therapy, CBT, solution-focused brief therapy, and mindfulness.
Sydney is a native of Arkansas who feels at home in the Pacific Northwest. She is a regular volunteer for a local animal rescue and frequently has a foster puppy at home in addition to her own two dogs, Otter and Margot. She views clients’ animals as a significant part of their support system and deeply values the human-animal bond. Sydney also teaches Pilates-based classes, having seen firsthand the value of movement and connection with one’s body within a supportive community.
Sydney is currently accepting new clients on a sliding scale. To receive mental health support from her, contact our Intake Manager at 503-226-7079 x650 or through our online intake form.
