Care, Connection, Community: A Mental Health Resilience Workshop

A workshop for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities

to build emergency preparedness, emotional resilience, and community connection.

Sunday, March 8

1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

at the Beaverton Library, 12375 SW 5th St., Beaverton

JFCS and Upstream Access invite adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for a welcoming afternoon of lunch, learning, and connection. This is both a preparedness workshop and a social gathering — a chance to meet others, share experiences, and enjoy time together.

Participants will learn simple, practical ways to prepare for emergencies and talk about feelings that can come up during stressful times. We will also create Mental Health Resilience Kits and learn how they can help during emergencies and everyday stress. We’ll leave with practical tools, new community connections, and skills to build resilience before, during, and after emergencies.

Lunch is provided and includes time to relax, visit, and connect with others.

The workshop is free, but registration is required. Caregivers and support persons are welcome to help participants register and/or attend if support is needed.

Register below.

Note: To get to the Beaverton City Library by public transit, take the TriMet MAX Blue Line to the Beaverton Central station, or take bus lines 52, 76, or 78 to stops near SW 5th and Hall, which are within walking distance. If using public transit, you can use the TriMet website to plan your specific route based on your starting location.

This workshop is possible thanks to generous grants from the OJCYF and The Jerry & Helen Stern Grandchildren’s Fund.

Upstream Access is a cross-disability community rooted in resilience, connection, and collective power. Upstream is committed to supporting our disability community and celebrating disability as both a culture and a source of creative strength.
